Scroll left to right for more photos.... Click on a photo to enlarge it December the last day of 2010 2011 is just about on our doorstep. I will probably have a quiet one at home tonight due to feeling like I am getting a cold. The year for me was a busy one. Lots of learning curves surfaced to add character in my life. Travel happened but not as planned. Lots of shorter enjoyable trips but not Uluru or Darwin. I am hoping to do that in 2011. Life took its tumbles and turns providing many interesting scenarios. My highlights included travelling (of course), spending time with my family, having my daughter return home safely after a 6 month stint OS. Building solid friendships and saying goodbye to those who didn't fit into that category. Waking up everyday and walking out into my veggie garden provided a source of senerity. Reconnecting with my school friends and finding long lost relatives. Hearing my William say "nannie" added with Isabella and Louis' company was my sunshine when at times it rained. My beautiful sister Jane was there through the thick of it with love and white bread rolls. She mopped up tears many a time and shared a laugh. She is the best!!!!! Justin surviving his broken neck and bike accident was a monumental emotional roller coaster. Saying goodbye to Leesa for 6 months was a toughy. Losing my beloved pets Puss Puss and Alcho, hearing my sister Robyn is extremely ill has put a damper on my 2010 Christmas. Not seeing my kids for the 1st time ever this christmas was also character building. (NOT!!!) The true sense of community is living where I live. I am blessed with great neighbours. When I took ill this year, they were all at the hospital. Their support was breathtaking. Impromptu street parties were definitely a highlight. Who needs counselling when you live in the best street in the world. I saw friends who were very ill pull through. Their courage was outstanding!!!! I have started my own business and 2011 will bring study, building my business venture, travel and spending time with those who have a place in my heart. Wishing you all a happy finish to 2010 and an enjoyable journey through 2011. Peace, good health and love PS I forgot to mention that both my AFL and NRL Footy teams won their respective grand finals. Oh what a year
29th My budgie of 14 years passed away yesterday. What a sad day. We will miss you Alcho. Home is so quiet without your chirping, whistling and chattering. 25th Santa came and delivered a gorgeous 6 foot man with a few muscles in the right places, with a small head of hair and no comb over, a heart bigger than his whole body and a 4WD and caravan. Bugger and then I woke up! Merry Christmas to my gorgeous people who take the time to read my web blog. You rock my road!!! I miss my family today. This year is a very tough one. Lucky I have the most wonderfulist sister in the world who will grace me with her presence for lunch. Can't wait for Jane Bas Isabella and Louis to arrive. I must go and prepare for the Christmas hot lunch!!! Merry Christmas to you all with love.
24th Wishing my son Justin a very happy 25th birthday. With much love. xxxxxxx 23rd Hi ho, hi ho it's off to work I go. Two more sleeps til Christmas. It will be my boy Justin's 25th Birthday tomorrow. I miss him heaps.
22nd What an awesome street party. A very late night had by the usual suspects including me. The sun was up when I met my pillow. It's been manic to say the least trying to set up my new business especially this time of the year. There is so much to do as well as train for my 1st lot of students in the new year. I have already put in a few paid hours (yeah) and will do some more tomorrow. I am 3 assignments behind the rest of my class in my qualification upgrade. They have to be in by the 31st Jan 2011. It's raining for me with my "jobs to do" list growing. Pushed up against the wall, I know I will accomplish it all. And I am going on holidays too. Oh well. Christmas will be tough without spending it with my kids this year for the very 1st time. They are going to Tamworth to spend it with their little sisters, Dad and his wife Anna. My sister Jane,Bas, Isabella and Louis are coming over for lunch. I am looking forward to having them over to celebrate the occasion. Boxing day I am taking my caravan up to Oakdale where I will party for a couple of days. Oh yeah!!!!! How are you spending your Christmas this year? And my darling little William has Chicken Pox. Poor little man.
18th Happy Birthday Craig. Love and miss you heapsxxxxxxx. 16th You should have seen the hailstones today. Just as well my car was undercover. I heard an interesting story last night at trivia. The grand daughter of one of our team members is a "P" plate driver. Last week she was pulled over by the police. The policeman awarded her a "good driver" gift because she had been seen by others as a responsible "P" plate obeying all the road rules and driving in a safe manner. Positive police reinforcement is a great idea. Today at my morning Aldi shopping spree the cashier told me there were shoppers queued out the front from 8.15 this morning. The shop doesn't open until 9am. Anyway as the doors were opened a few of the shoppers had an all in brawl over who was in the line first when the doors opened. A policeman shopper witnessed the whole thing and said that he was appalled at the behaviour of these people. The staff, who were also pretty disgusted started singing Christmas carols to try and diffuse the situation. Blood shed bargains hunters!!!! Tomorrow night is my street christmas party. I will report the antics at some point before the weekend is over. Guess what................I am now the proud owner of my own training and assessing business. I will be teaching Cert 111 and Cert IV in Disability Work. Fantastic. I already have a class-full starting in January 2011. I am contracting to a Registered Training Organisation at this stage. I may venture further at a later stage. I have been busy setting things up and making sure that it's a viable proposition. It is my dream job. Even though I have trained before, this training is a recognised Australian Qualification. I am pretty happy because the job will be flexible which will suit my lifestyle. Merry Christmas to me. Leesa is back at work and working her little butt off. She has gone again to stay near the city with a friend because her hours a long. She's rubbing shoulder with Sir Bob Galdolph and Bon Jovi. She is still trying to settle in back here in Oz. The veggie garden is doing great but I may have to buy a few veggies for christmas lunch. Happy birthday to my Bundy Brother for Saturday. Wish we could celebrate together.
12th Been out in the garden most of yesterday and am sporting a red nose like Rudolph and red cheeks like Santa. Silly me. I have some big appointments this coming week regarding a business I am thinking about starting. I will look great with flakes peeling from my face (just like snow). All christmas gifts are wrapped except for the ones I haven't bought yet (hehehehe). There are not too many of those. Our street party is this coming Friday evening at 7pm. Come along. Bring your chair, libation, a plate of food and a cheery disposition and all should go pretty well especially after midinight. I have enjoyed watching the blood thirsty and tragic story of Blood Diamond, the intriguing and sad story of Almost Famous and an aussie movie spoken in an Italian/English dialect and set in Melbourne called Lover's Brother over the past couple of days. It's been a little too hot to venture outdoors in the middle of the day. It is official that Christmas lunch will be held at my place this year. Nothing fancy just good old fashion happy company. I am still willing my tomatoes to go red for the day. You go tomatoes!!!!!! I have updated my pictures. I hope you enjoy them. This arvo I am heading our to watch Isabella's (niece) dance extravaganza. I am looking forward to it!!!! This is a true story....it is not meant to be rude.....it is amazing.....I have never in my whole life seen anything like this before. Yesterday whilst out in my front garden I saw 2 snails back to back. I picked them up and noticed they were attached. When I inspected them closer I saw they were mating. Unbloodybelievable......I say......Unbloodybelievable. The male snail has a penis, and it looks like a human penis and very white in colour. It is about half the length of his shell and has a bump on the end just the human male. The female has an opening just like a human female and very white in colour too. Upon even closer inspection I decided to pull them apart and noticed that his penis retracted when I seperated them. It was amazing. I wanted to rush in and get my camera but didn't want to risk missing this spectacular!!!! What an experience to witness.....move over Attenborough, here I come. 10th Flogged at trivia. Not to worry you can't be good looking and intelligent at the same time. We had a pretty poor score. Watched Branson's soccer last night (they lost) and then the Nicky's team play. The ladies had so much fun and as a bonus won the game too. Well done ladies. I have spent the day catching up on sleep. Lucky me. How's your Christmas preparations going? Mine are minimal and enjoyable. Not too much fuss I say!!!! I still haven't decided on what to do with my car yet. Get the gearbox reco-ed or a 2nd hand one and sell. All it takes is money.
8th Well well well......I am back on line again. Long story which I will definately not bore you with. How are you all going? I am doing really well but could do with staying asleep at night instead of lying awake in the wee dark hours. Leesa is back home and still trying to adjust. If she is anything like me, she will never adjust to being back in four walls. As I say this she had packed her bag and headed to Tamworth to see her father, his wife and their 2 children as of yesterday. I have got a visitor so I will close and update a little later on today. Part 2 Back again. The ole social life has been very busy. Christmas lunches, little street gatherings, visitors etc. Last Saturday night a large group of us headed to a pub to see a group of musicians who had never played/sang/jammed together. Wow there was so much talent. I am proud to say that I know most of them. They put a gig together at the last moment and delivered a jawdropping gig. Leesa has been very busy since getting back home. Her friend flew down from Emerald Qld with a pretty full on agenda which took a toll on me just watching Leesa trying to keep up with it. It had conseqences that were not good for anyone. I am off to trivia tonight for the 2nd last time this year. Christmas is pretty quiet here. I am asking the veggies in my garden to bloom, blossom and ripen for Christmas day.
November 2010
30th After 6 months away, my daughter Leesa is home again. It's fantastic to see her smiling face again. 29th I forgot to mention my son had a motorbike accident last weekend. He is lucky to be alive yet again. Lost his bike at 110kph. Just as well he had all the best Kevlar gear on. He still had a lot of bark injuries and a swollen foot. On ya Justin. He just keeps on causing no end of distress. If he keeps up this behaviour, he won't be getting a christmas card of his mother. He is lucky he didn't rebreak his neck. Goodness gracious me!!!!!
28th It's been a while since I last Blurbed. Due to loads of spam and skype, I had exceeded my monthly usage plan in the 1st week. Shock horror!!!! My week has brought good news and bad news and more good news and lots of visitors. Always great to see people and always great to wave them off until the next time. Let me tell you that this next week is going to be even more busier. My fruit and veggie garden is looking scruptious. Loads of stuff including cucumber, tomato, corn, zucchini, various herbs, lettuces of all varieties, carrots, celery, passionfruit, grapes, figs, apples, papinos, capsicum, beetroot, red onions and steak knives. Just thought I'd put in steak knives to see if you were paying attention!!!!! My little 3 yo William was a bit of a handful when he came to stay during the week. He opened things, pulled apart things, threw things and got into the "good stuff" cupboards. OMG!!!! Nannie was beside herself. Had a great weekend so far. Out to the local last night to see some fantastic musos due their thing. Out to the park for dinner and play with Isabella and Louis on Friday night. I have been cleaning and fixing up my daughter's car. It looks like the local tip. She will be slapped next time I see her. My car has been put back together unfixed. I will attack the gearbox problem soon when I can face it. I will get a reconditioned one and Rob will put it in for me. That's the plan anyway. I am hoping it will tow the van in January when I go away for my weeks holiday. Ok back to Leesa's car now. I am going to bring the "ho" in "ho ho ho Merry Christmas". Not many sleeps to go now!!!! 21st Just got home from Camden Valley Inn where The Members had a practice bash for their gig on the 1st November. The Members are a 4 piece band with singer Chris my friend and neighbour. The guys are awesome!!!! Enjoyed myself at home last night with some friends, food and some drinks. I have now gotten over the shock on the price to get my car gearbox fixed. I'll get some quotes and take it from there. I hope you had a great weekend and you are well and happy. I love to hear from you so please don't forget to drop me a line or ring me up. I am always up for a chat. Good night and sweet dreams. 18th Dinner at Ribs and Rump for Jess's birthday was meaty to say the least. Nice company and meal. Jess enjoyed herself. Got the shock of my life today when I took the car to the auto transmission mechanic for a service and got a phone call saying the service fee of $170.00 had increased to $2,700.00 because the gearbox was gone. I mean gone, broken, buggered and all those other rudes words that go with that kind of phone call. I was so shocked I had to go for a lay day for the arvo and cancel all plans for the evening with William. My friend Rob has come to my rescue yet again and will do the labour for diddly squat. What a gem. That should half the cost. Ok I thought I would have a debrief with you about the gearbox. What a shocker!!!!! 16th Happy Birthday to my favourite chocolate coated daughter in law Jess xxxxxxxxxxx See you tonight honey xxxxxxxxxx 15th I can report that I have had a massive and enjoyable weekend. Chris and Vnessa's wedding was filled with love. It was great to see two people in love exchange vows. The catholic church in Camden is a beautiful church. Even though it was a hot day, the church remained cool with its spaciousness and high celings. The wedding party looked stunning in their lightly blush pink frocks and the boys in their suits. Nessa looked like a princess and was beautiful in spirit as always. Chris openly showed his love and commitment for his new bride. Rob, Nessa's Dad delivered a heart felt speech which resonated well with the guests (and he only swore once). The groom Chris made a magnificient speech also which caused a few tears. Both Chris and Rob were so nervous about doing their speeches. They worried for nothing because they both did well. The reception was held at Menangle House providing an amazing rural outlook. The food was yummy and the company was excellent. I had such a wonderful time. The next day 70 of the guests returned to Menangle for lunch. My son Justin popped over to catch up with some of the wedding guests including Rob's three girls. Get out to Menangle it's got something for every occasion, interesting buildings, music, special menu nights and not too far from home. I spoke to my daughter Leesa this morning for a lengthy time. She is on a boat heading to Barcelona from Ibiza where she will meet up with some friends. She is happy, well and excited about her next leg. Not sure what's happening at this stage with her return and even if I did, I am sworn to secrecy. I am proud of her travelling feat. She's a good girl. I am so tired after a huge weekend and will be in bed very early tonight. Tomorrow is my daughter in law Jess' birthday. We will party tomorrow night. William, the cake junkie, will hover around his mother's birthday cake tomorrow night. 13th The weather is perfect for Vnessa and Chris' wedding today. The Princess will look beautiful with her Prince charming. I will head out shortly to see them before they tie the knot at 3pm. 11th Lest we forget. And I feel bad because I didn't stop at 11am to remember those brave enough to fight for our country. Today William (3 yo grandson), myself and neighbour Nicky had a great day shelling fresh prawns and swimming in her spa. We had a lot of fun!!! The quote of the day from William after Nicky called William Willyum yum......."There is only one yum in Willyum Nicky"!! Priceless little person. Who knows what the weather will do for Nessa and Chris' wedding on Saturday. Not long now guys. Had a great weekend with the family last weekend. The local Fete in the morning, the Fisher's Ghost parade in the arvo, a 2 hour nannie nap and then back to the Fishers Ghost carnival and fireworks in the evening. Isabella scored a lot of cash for her 8th birthday, a fantastic thunderstorm and lightning show, heaps of pizza and cake. Louis (5 yo nephew) said "thanks for coming to Isabella's birthday party". Another "too cute" moment from a little person. I am off to the shopping centre now UNFORTUNATELY!!!!! 8th Isabella is 8 today. Happy birthday my beautiful niece. We will party on tonight my lovely. Today I am thinking about Uncle Bob and Nanna. Memories of the past on this special anniversary. 5th I have my car back. At this stage we think the oil leak came from the timing chain. So far so good. All it needs now is a wash vacuum and cleaned dashboard and it will be like new again. I may even hitch the van up and go local for a beach holiday within the next 2/3 weeks. There's so much happening at the moment with limited time even for a scratch. My beautiful girl Vnessa and Chris are getting married on the 13th. There is family arriving from all over and I have offered my abode. Vnessa is the eldest daughter of my ex partner Rob. Vnessa and her 2 sisters have been family to me for nearly 19 years. Rob was the wonderful person who has just fixed my car. Who says exes are all bad. Not true your honour. Nessa will make a beautiful bride. I will post some pics of the day soon. I took myself to the movies again the other day just because I could. William, Justin and Jess have been over to visit a lot which has been fantastic. My son has become the most beautiful person. He just oozes love and compassion for his mum at the moment. Jess send me a "we love you" sms last night right on bed time. How nice is that. William said to me the other day "I wuv you nannie darwing" while he was running his fingers through my hair and just before he clonked me on the head with his hard covered book. Out with the girls tonight, picnic tomorrow with my sister and kids, Sunday at my sister's inlaws and then Monday out for dinner for Isabella's 8th birthday. It's going to be huge and enjoyable spending time with family and friends. Now to find something to wear#?!#* 2nd Melbourne Cup today. I just don't have the enthusiasm as I should being a Melbournite. I'd do a sweep but there are none going at home. Ha!!!! Sleep is evading me yet again. I keep seeing little white flashes around home and then the realisation hits me that Puss is know longer here in person. Leesa is back in Ibiza and with her friends and Spanish family. In her words "she has had the most amazing time". It will be hard for her to come home. There are so many changes in her world with time needed to adjust. She is her mother's daughter and will "get there" as we always do. We will wrap our arms around her with love and support to help her through the transition. Chloe came over on the weekend and shared her 3,000 photos with me of her Europe trip. The viewing took over 6 hours. Leesa and Chloe met up for their 3 week Contiki tour. Great partying pics, beautiful buildings, more partying pics, pics of Leesa, more partying pics, snow capped alps, iconic statues coupled with more partying pics. She had a ball. It was fantastic to have my "special daughter" back home safely after her trip of a life time.
Hello for the 1st of November. I can feel a summer in the air. It's still not as hot as up at Cape York. Talking about Cape York, check out my trip on this website under Cape York Trip Parts 1, 2 and 3. Go to the index on the left of my intro page. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did my trip. I have only been back a week and what a week it's been. I didn't want to put this info up until I had contacted Leesa in Spain, which I now have, our beloved Puss Puss of nearly 14 years went to heaven on Thursday 28/10/10 at 4pm. Puss was suffering from external advanced nasal cancer which had progressed rapidly while I was away. When I got home I noticed that his breathing was obstructed, his eyes infected and he was having difficulty eating (very unlike him), so I new it was time. Puss Puss was Leesa's cat and as a parent, I did a lot of the caring. Puss was an angel who came into our lives when things got a little tough especially for me. It was around the time I was diagnosed with Lupus. He never left my side. He was intuitive with everyone in the family and just knew when to share his love. About 6 years ago Puss got bitten by a Death Adder. Most people don't survive that kind of bite let alone an animal but Puss never gave up the fight and lived to tell the tale. We nursed him day and night after coming home from the vets. It's hard to imagine him coming through that after being totally paralysed with limited operation of body functions. But he did. Another time the neighbours submerged him in sump oil. He was a mess. My friend Kerryn and I cleaned him for hours initially and then for days after. A cruel thing to do but he showed them. You go Puss!!!!!!! Leesa used to dress him up in her clothes, wrap him in a bunny rug and push him around the house in her pram. He just loved it. He was always hungry, a guts I would say, with his appetite never diminishing. He thought the kitchen was where he should be when I was in there just in case he could scavenge any morsal that hit the floor. At night he would curl up next to me on the lounge, the closer he could get to me the better with him always putting a paw on your skin. He had to touch you. He was like a baby and loved it when I cradled him in my arms. Sadly missed and now with Smudge xxxxxxxxxxxx A great pain relief for me the past couple days has been gardening. I have chopped, bashed, crashed, scraped, dug and replanted veggies. Last night I was invited to a very special gig. My 11 year old neighbour Branson has been having drum lessons for the past 2 years and decided to put a concert on for the selected few. His idols are Metallica and he drummed to 5 of their songs finishing with his own composition. He was awesome. I have never seen anything like it. We shared a sausage sizzle beforehand and then sat down for the concert. Well done Branson. I will point you out when you are famous and say "I went to his very 1st concert"!
Rock on October
Collingwood - The 2010 Premiers 27th Happy 40th Chrissie my lovely. Enjoy your day and sorry I can't make the shindig on Saturday. Still catching up on sleep but feeling a lot better. I picked up a loan car yesterday from Rob (thanx) after we realised that my car will be off the road for a longer length of time. There's a lot going on at the moment as Rob gets ready for his daughter V'nessa and Chris' wedding. All good now that I have wheels. Back to the work coal face tomorrow as I am doing a training course. I don't mind upgrading my skills because the welfare industry is forever changing its policies and procedures. I have sorted all the photos now and just need to tweek my Cape York story and then I will post it. Stay tuned................. My pussy cat is looking pretty sick and the time is getting nearer. I am feeling reluctant to address this very painful issue. Everytime I think about it, I well up. Please give me strength to do the right thing real soon. 24th Yesterday I am waking up in the very warm Daintree and then in the evening sleeping in my own bed in Sydney. All it took was waiting in Cairns airport for over 7 hours after being dropped rudely tooooo early and then the flight being delayed by 1 hour. I finally touched down in Sydney at 11pm after a mammoth 11 hours to the welcoming arms of my family. It was just what I needed. What a lucky ducky I am. Got into my own bed and slept for a lot of hours until 8.30am then went visiting the neighbours to catch up on the goss of the past couple of weeks. Had a 3 hour nanny nap this arvo and still feeling the effects of the trip. I found a power point at Cairns airport yesterday, plugged the laptop in and had loads of fun sorting photos and playing games which made the time go by quickly. I felt like I had a small victory after being hit yet again with an addition $40 excess baggage charge. Blow me down. Of course I met some great friendly people while sitting in the arrivals lounge. Airport security wouldn't let me go through to the departure lounge because I had all my luggage with me which included tent pegs. Jetstar wouldn't let me book my luggage in because I was 6 hours too early so I walked out of departures with my luggage and sat in arrivals where there were no restrictions, free power points, a cafe and comfy seats. The time flew by until the plane was delayed. By the time I reached Sydney I realised who my friends were!!!!!! I am sitting here freezing after coming from 38 degree days and just chilling out in the broader sense. I am going to write a seperate blog about my trip and will post it up when I am feeling up to it. Let me tell that my trip was unforgettable!!!!!!
23rd or is it the 20 turd? Hi from Cairns airport. Feeling pretty low at the moment after being dropped at the airport 6 1/2 hours early for my 6.20pm departure flight home tonight and 2 weeks short of completing my holiday term. At least it's airconditioned here and the people are friendly. I am sitting here excited about coming home to my beautiful family and friends. I am feeling so lucky that my family/friend circle is dependable, honest, loyal and loving. I have been shoved around a little and feeling a little low. But I made it to the tip of Australia. Cape York was nothing like Charlie and Boots (the movie). It was Australia in its raw beauty. I have so much to write about when I get home. The photos are plentiful so I will only bore you with just a few. I will get settled in at home for a couple of days and then get to typing up my story. For now, I have only 5 hours to go before the plane leaves. 18th Hi from Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. I am camping over at Seisia at the moment which is about 1 1/2 hours via boat from here. I will be tagging along with a tour this morning to hear about the intensive history of the island. It's so exciting. No phone service on my usual phone with limited on the Telstra. Absolutely no service on the internet. I am using the internet at the local Council Chambers at the Library. Yesterday we climbed to the very tip of Australia where I sat and shed some tears of accomplishing another dream. It was very hot going but well worth the slog. My time on this internet is so limited so I will give you only a little of this very epic journey. We have crossed rivers, swam in creeks with crystal clear waters with the white sand glistening in the sun. I have had to swim with my eyes searching for the crocodiles. The trees have been various and beautiful. We have some insect miners at our campsite at the moment. Their pinchers are so powerful that they have made their way into our tent floors. As of tomorrow we turn around and start heading south taking in some of the Atherton Tablelands and National Parks. Not too many incidents at this staage except for a broken tent (me), both boys have backed into trees (ouch) and the bloody ants. Ok I am off to check my emails so I will update as I head further south and get some service. I am well, hot and very tired which is not a good recipe
13th Hi everyone from Weipa. Having a absolute ball getting amongst the very remotest parts of the pointy bit. Leaving Weipa today. I only have Telstra phone service and have no credit. Using an internet kiosk at the moment so limited time. Sorry about that. Sat by the campfire the other night checking out all the eyes looking back at me. Unbelievable sight. Laying in my tent at night I feel safe but the 4am wee becomes an emotional issue for me. I promise never to drink again!!! The crocodiles were invisible during the day but at night they look like stars in the water. The birdlife is plentiful and everyday has brought lots of kilometers with never before seen scenery. I am in my element. We have teamed up now with Peter, a friend of mine from Sydney. Yesterday we celebrated Kerry's birthday with a cake in the morning with an entree of bacon and eggs. In the evening we had a sedate libation waiting for the tropical storm to ease. Now I know why it is called Weipa. Obviously the person couldn't spell properly. It should have read Weeper. I have seen Jabirus, Kingishers, crocodiles, Galahs, Kookaburras, kangaroos, pigs, feral cats. It is endless beauty here. We will traverse some very rough going today to arrive at some swimming holes where we camp. We are touring Weipa this morning and then heading off. There will be no more contact for a while. A short note to let you know that we are all safe, in one piece and excited about our new day. I hope you are all ok out there and miss you heaps. Take care from Weipa. xxxxx
9th Off to happy hour where I may just get happy but before I do.... Tomorrow we leave Wonga Beach and cross over the Daintree River via ferry where will began our practice 4WDing on the Bloomfield Track before we get to the serious stuff. I am sad to say that the accident yesterday was a fatality. The news reports say she was a 32 yo from Cairns holidaying up here. After hiring a motor scooter, she was travelling south of Port Douglas and lost control of it and came off in front of a 4WD coming the other way. We were only 3 cars behind the car that hit her and I keep thinking we were so close to being involved in that horrible scene. I am feeling a little under the weather after seeing the body. I was going to render 1st Aid assistance but couldn't find anywhere safe to park on the treacherous bends. As we came through the bends the Ambulance was heading toward the scene. After we got through the road was shut for hours on end. I am feeling a little distressed about it and think about those who were involved in that horrific accident.
8th Hello all you poor pets who have been working this week. We left Calliope once our tents dried from the moisture. It delayed at early morning departure somewhat. Kerry has been doing a mammoth job driving. He's a great driver and I feel very safe. After some teething problems we enjoyed having a peaceful day today. Last night the 8th, we stayed at a free camp right near a railway track, a service station, the main road and some large bright street lights. Needless to say it was noisey and bright. The few libations I had during and after dinner assisted with a peaceful sleep. I have been getting up at 5.30am which is too early because the chirpy chirpy birds are so noisey. I can still hear them through my earplugs. So we packed up early and left Guthalungra (which is between Bowen and Ayr) very early. We stopped in at Etty Bay (south of Innisfail) to find some Cassowaries. We saw one female just roaming around. Kerry was happy to see one in its own habitat for the 1st time. Tonight we are in the Daintree. Back here at Wonga beach is just like coming home. This is where Kerry and I met exactly one year ago to the day. We actually did more driving today that we initially planned so we will stay here and do our washing tomorrow and just take it easy before we head off to do the Bloomfield Track on Sunday. From there we will meet up with my friend Peter at Cooktown and travel together up to the Cape. Saw an awful motorbike accident today just on the bends before Port Douglas. Unfortunately it looked like a fatality from what I saw and only just happened 4 cars in front of us. Very very sad. I love meeting the people along the way. Last night I met Andrew who was on the tail end of his around Australia motorbike trip. Very interesting guy. Said good morning to a man in his early 70's who was travelling on foot pushing a cart. Unbelievable!!!! He had the brownest legs I have ever seen. How could you walk around Australia. Another lady was riding her pushbike from Cairns to Brisbane to raise funds and awareness of Pancreatic Cancer. She said by the time she arrived at her destination each night she was too tired to raise money and chat to people. This will be her last pushbike trip EVER!!!!!!!! She had to go to hospital because of the seriousness of her sunburnt lips and is now riding around with a dusk mask on her face to protect the infection. Poor love. And............................she didn't have a support team!! That was my "go figure" moment. I have mozzie bites all over me. They are so annoying when I am trying to sleep. Tomorrow I will put up some pictures for you too drool over after I go croc hunting/spotting. It's just perfect being away. Bye from the Daintree xxxxxxxxxxx
7th Are we there yet??? No bloody way mate!!! A long way to go before we reach the most northern part of Australia. Left Sydney yesterday $50.00 poorer. I got hit with an excess baggage charge. That was my "bugger me" moment. What can you do but pay it. So I did. Of course the M5 was a carpark, so we had to go the long way round the countryside to get to the airport which of course was quicker. That was my "go figure" moment. And we didn't have to pay any tolls. Had a great flight without any issues unlike the last time I flew. The plane was late getting into the Sunshine Coast because of the fog but I got there smiling and in one piece. I played "nannie" all the way sitting next a 7 and 9 yo. They were very good boys. We drove most of yesterday and we camped at Calliope for the night. Calliope is 100kms south of Rockhampton. The last time I camped here I was surrounded by smoke from all the fires. The weather here is pretty nice at the moment. No sign of any rain yet. Ok, need to get on with day. So bye from me. PS: i HAVE POSTED MY NEW REGIONAL PHONE NUMBER ON MY CONTACT PAGE FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO CARE. 6th I am outta here. Catch you up north!!!! 5th How can I go from sleeping 12 hours nightly too hardly any sleep last night. I know why............... there is a very serious terrorist threat/alert in Europe and my daughter and Chloe are there. Chloe's father who is high up in the army also confirmed this yesterday via phone. He should know, shouldn't he!!!! My sources are pretty spot on so I am very concerned. The Ranga PM is considering revoking Australian Visas at the moment and sending our travellers home. I want phone service where I am going otherwise I will not be happy. I am packed and ready to board my flight tomorrow.
4th I have woken up with a big smile on my dial. Yep it's true that winners are grinners. Oh I am happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am now packing. Don't know how I am going to get up early and catch that flight now that daylight savings has added to my sleep ins. 2 more sleeps to go. The 3rd of October...............................The mighty Dragons won the Grand Final. What a game. Nerves definitely got the better of me prior to the game and during the 1st half, then I began to settle when we scored in the 2nd half to win the game. I got the hat trick this year. Grand Final wins to Australian Diamonds, Collingwood and the St. George Dragons. The comradery at the Oatley Pub was superb enhancing the atmosphere with the majority being Dragons supporters. My neighbours Nicky, Chris, Branson and Justin, Jess & William were witnesses to the Dragons win. Go boys!!!!!! I am so proud of you!!!!! 3rd Go the mighty Dragons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was biting my nails in my sleep. It's going to be a wet grand final. Amazing slippery bodies coated in mud . I glad my son isn't playing. In fact my son will never play again and it doesn't matter. Who forgot about daylight savings. Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spoke to my beautiful girl in Spain last night. She's fantastic and not looking forward to coming home. I can't blame her. I will have a wine and counsellor waiting for her when she comes back to Oz. I miss her and very happy that she is very happy. Come on Dragons you can do it today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Justin came over and watched some of the Magpies game with me yesterday before heading off to do a gig. He is my no. 1 son. I am a very proud mum. I must go and get my red and white attire ready for the big game today. GO THE MIGHTY MAGPIES CONGRATS BOYS ON TAKING THE 2010 PREMIERSHIP(2/10/2010) October is going to be pretty exciting for me. It didn't start off too good visiting the Dentist. Twice in one week was not good. I have this mass which has shown up on a facial xray. Not sure what to do it about so at this stage I am just going to focus on going away and leave it alone. The 2nd visit yesterday left me feeling sick after a reaction to the contents of the needle. It's the 2nd time that's happened. Anyway I survived it and was able to have a drink last night. All is good now with the new filling. I went out to do some gardening this morning and with perfect timing, the rain came down and saved me unravelling the hose. The new Miss Australia is now registered for another year. I am getting ready now to do the AFL Grand Final for the 2nd time this year. Go the Pies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 4 more sleeps to go before I fly to the Sunshine Coast and meet up my Cape York travelling mate.

Buy Justin a lottery ticket as he such a lucky boy at the moment. Broken neck and hobbling away from a 110 kph bike crash in just of 12 months are proving he hasn't many live left if he was a cat. I hope you can sleep at night. Comment By : Russell on 2nd Dec 2010 Ol' Kimba has had a great innings and he is not long on this mortal coil. No matter what you do, remember that Wakeley Kimba and Nuwanda are up there waiting for him in Kitty Heaven. Comment By : Russell on 27th Oct 2010 Well helloooooo up there!!!! So glad to see you are having a fabulous time, as if there was any doubt about that :-) I'm sooooo happy that you have accomplished your dream of sitting on the tip of Australia - I hope it didn't hurt - what a mammoth moment.
